Does your child have a stubborn streak?
Parents often become very frustrated when they are dealing with a stubborn child. Getting the child to obey even simple commands can be very difficult. Small chores can become big events. Fortunately, there is hope at the end of the rainbow. If you can keep a stubborn child headed in the right direction, that stubbornness will eventually change into determination - a positive trait. In the meantime, here are a few ideas:
Avoid giving unnecessary commands. However, when you do give them, make sure you follow through.
Take care of the small stuff. If you only deal with big behaviors, you will also be having big confrontations.
Avoid yelling and threatening. Instead, speak quietly but assertively. Remember to use your feet, not your voice.
Avoid bribing your child. The last thing you want is for your child to learn that stubbornness brings rewards.
