Concerned About Fighting ?
If you want to stop children from fighting, make sure you stop "put-downs", the negative comments that children make which hurt another child's feelings. Stopping put-downs is important because verbal "hits" usually precede physical hits. Sometimes, you may even wish to refer to it this way by saying, "No hitting" in response to a hurtful comment. The child will naturally say, "I didn't hit him", to which you respond, "You did with your words". This helps them understand the impact that their actions have on others.
